Vladimir Đorić, Zabriskie Partner and President of ASAP Board of Directors was the moderator
of ASAP Talks #14 – MEETUP organized by the Association of Serbian Architectural Practices
(ASAP).
Panel guests: Igor Conić, editor-in-chief of the Gradnja.rs portal, Igor Mikitišin, founder and host
of Podcast Sfera and Robert Čoban, president of Color Press Group.
The panel discussed, among other things, whether the architects are right when they claim that
the mainstream media is not interested in architecture because it does not sell copies of
publications and does not encourage clickbait, or whether the responsibility lies with the
architectural community, which has remained trapped in insufficient the communicative
language of the profession, which is often incomprehensible to the general public.
The panelists also talked about the possibility and expectations that a show like “Anthology of
Houses” by Ranko Radović will appear on the public media service, as well as whether “small”,
mobile forms can contribute to the popularization of architecture in the public and reverse the
trend in which architecture is news only in posts by activist groups on social platforms.
The panelists agreed that architecture has not been talked about in public for a long time
through numerous conferences, events held by various organizations, exhibitions, biennials and
various media platforms, but also that we are still far from the goal of having a high-quality,
seriously produced show about architecture. in prime-time media with national frequency.
It was also concluded that the dialogue initiated through various forms of organizational events
is the only way for the architectural profession to articulate its interests and gain its deserved
prime-time position within Serbian society.
