Reconstruction of the former Radivoj Ćirpanov Workers Educational Center for the needs of Vega IT Company raised the subject of a landmark, a new symbol of a modern technological city of Novi Sad.
The identity of Vega IT building is based on the principle of horizontality, bearing resemblance to the appearance of the building once known as the blue beauty, aimed at epitomizing shared values of the former University and Vega IT Company.
By reducing the building down to its basic structural elements that emphasize the sense of freedom, thrill and inspiration within the interior, the structure becomes a spatial reference point – the ultimate manifestation of a successful and recognizable design.
One of our aims was to create a unique spatial quality – a sense of levitation over the city – the most powerful and the most direct of spatio-psychological effects, which can be brought into connection with the notion of visionary thinking, important for the identity of the client.
By emphasizing the horizontal elements and by putting them forward, we have attained screens that serve a double purpose; primarily, they protect the employees from direct sunlight in the summer, while generating a diffused interior lighting during winter months. The final effect is an enjoyable working environment throughout the year.
Moving the fire escape stairs into the existing building core made it possible to clear the panoramic view on Novi Sad from each working station.
The idea behind the structure was to preserve values of what was once a city landmark, to discover values shared with the contemporary context by emphasizing its genuine attributes while upgrading the original qualities of the existing structure.
