At the recently held UIA 2026 World Congress of Architects in Barcelona, the transformation project of the former Novkabel industrial hall into the modern InGrid – Schneider Electric Hub in Novi Sad achieved remarkable international success. Selected by the Architects’ Council of Europe (ACE), the project by Zabriskie studio was included in the official international exhibition and publication titled “Form Follows Transformation”.

The Only Representative of the Region at the Exhibition

This prestigious exhibition celebrates Europe’s most successful examples of sustainable adaptive reuse and transformation of the built environment. Competing among more than 110 submitted projects from across Europe, the international expert jury selected only 20 realisations for the exhibition, where InGrid was the sole project from Serbia and the entire region. Following its successful premiere in Barcelona, the exhibition, which is co-funded by the Creative Europe programme of the European Union, is embarking on a European tour and will be presented at the European Parliament and the European Commission in Brussels.

Featured in the Official ACE Publication

In addition to the exhibition, our project is presented in detail in the accompanying professional ACE publication, which features 36 selected European transformations. In it, InGrid’s methodology and achievements are analysed through the eight criteria of the Davos Baukultur Quality System, highlighting it as an example of excellence in the domain of environmental sustainability (LEED Platinum), the preservation of collective memory, and the creation of an innovative working environment through the conservation of industrial heritage.

The Vision and Power of Partnership

Recognitions at this level confirm that local architectural practice can equally carry the vision of Europe’s sustainable future. However, such milestones would not be possible without a shared vision and strong partnership. We express our deepest gratitude to our clients and partners – the companies Schneider Electric and Novaston, for their unreserved trust and collaboration. Your support has enabled us to translate the industrial heritage of Novkabel into a globally recognised model of architectural transformation.
