Block 64 is an ambitious undertaking in the heart of New Belgrade, designed to form a new contemporary neighbourhood within the modernistic city of the future, serving as a role model for the future development of neighbouring complexes and blocks.
The approach was inspired by the blocks 45, 70 and 33 featuring the idea of buildings floating in greenery, while overcoming the challenge of fitting the contemporary requirements, facilities and square meters into a concept of a collective quality of life in New Belgrade.
Following the idea of preserving the spirit of New Belgrade, we have tried to raise the qualitative and commercial value of the complex by implementing the following criteria: plenty of sunlight, staying in contact with nature, well sized space, genuine and rich shape.
Just one of the goals during the drafting of design, was to achieve the authentic character of flats. What separates this kind of approach from usual methods is the fact that we recognized the opportunity and the need for residential complexes of this size, so we can make flats of recognizable and appealing character through distinct landscape qualities, – primarily, the view and apartments’ connection with external greenery.
To achieve a truly comfortable and vibrant life of the complex, we have strategically positioned different micro-ambiences and different ways of using common spaces – playgrounds, shops, park zones, recreational zones, and mini squares.
We have designed a smart layout for the higher housing standard and use of the intermediate space towards which the apartments are integrated and open. At the same time, we have subdivided underground floors, to get as much green area as possible. This decision in combination with carefully elaborated structure layout, opened up angles for planting tall and long lasting vegetation, running down the entire residential complex and creating a green backbone, a place where things happen, a place for mixing.
Gradation of open spaces is achieved through three unique entities that differ in size, purpose and the way they are used.
Urban business center in the north part of the complex, reach in commercial facilities, attracting residents from all over New Belgrade.
Green backbone running through the entire complex, providing opportunities for active life of the community, spending time together, workout, leisure and satisfying everyday needs
Private zones between buildings, intended for tenants – their green oases of peace out in the open
In order to emphasize and rationalize freestanding buildings amongst the greenery, all flats are designed with balconies as private spaces for interacting with the surrounding vegetation. Likewise, green planters on balcony rims leave room for tenants to individually express themselves and bond with the environment in a more significant way.
