As a result of a close cooperation with the investor and its team, across Belgrade’s oldest park and the monument to Vuk Karadžić, we have created a new A+ class business center through a total design approach.
The main focus of this revolutionary business concept was to create an exceptionally humane working environment and shape up the unique employee and visitor experience. It required conceptualizing and designing everything down to the last detail. Future users will be exposed to the unique experience from the moment they first lay eyes on the building, approach it, to the moment they enter the lobby and proceed to business premises.
During the process of shaping the building, the greatest challenge lay in connecting with the style of a whole row of business and administrative buildings on the street with a centuries old history. The concept revolved around the location’s greatest assets – the Cyril and Methodius park and the fact that the building lot occupies two street corners – which is not that common.
Drawing our inspiration from the park, we have enriched the purified language of modernist architecture with continuous terraces with lavishly sized planters to sustain the lush vegetation on the façade. That way, the atmosphere of the park was transposed into the interior, adding quality to the way the building is perceived – both from the inside and from the outside, contributing to the creation of the street spirit.
Our goal was to incorporate one of Belgrade’s most beautiful parks, that lies just across the street, into the working environment and make it part of the immediate user experience, even though the park and the Center are physically separated by one of the busiest streets in Belgrade. This is why the glass curtain wall on the third and fourth storey, right above the treetops on the street, is pushed inwards, forming green terraces.. Employees are thus provided with the comfort of being in the open air, with a unique view of the park and the city.
The Revolution will be equipped as one of the most advanced office buildings in Belgrade, but the thing that truly makes it exclusive is the visual bond with the park and integration of the natural greenery with the façade and the interior.
In search of an ever simpler, sincere way of expressing ourselves, which would leave the impression of sturdiness, freshness and rationality, we decided to use the structure itself as the building’s façade. That decision enabled us to solve all the issues concerning proper functioning of the building, including thermal insulation by adjusting just a few details. By simple repositioning of the thermal-insulating layer into the plane between the beams and the slab, we not only made room for thermal insulation but also allowed for the terrace drainage system to be put in place and for the planters to be integrated into the structural beams.
With the great support from the investor and their team, the technology used in the process of executing this project – the technology that can still be regarded as revolutionary by our standards – was implemented with utmost professionalism and prowess.
Keeping the state of the existing public space in mind, despite being granted more building capacity, this business center was not designed to the full extent of its approved volume. Namely, an entire height module towards the corner of Bulevar and Golsvordijeva St. was left out in order to support the height of their street fronts. We have orientated the tallest part of the structure towards the future square, planned at the site where Trnska street should join the King Alexander’s Boulevard.
